why does my hard drive get hot and it freeze,make noise like a fan is running?
This is definitely a hardware problem, usually inside your hard drive. First of all, before you do anything, BACK UP YOUR IMPORTANT DATA, with symptoms you describe your hard drive to have, it may just overheat any time. Next, check out your hardware profile for your hard drive to see if any errors are shown and troubleshoot from there. If nothing special shows, there is probably a cooling problem with the hard drive which would overheat it and cause it to decrease in performance. I would suggest you take the hard drive into Best Buy or your local electronics store to get it checked out becuase taking it apart without proper knowledge could cause complete wreckage to the drive, especially the data cells.
