Why does it take so long for me to transfer files on a LAN wired network?
Considering I'm exchanging data internally using minimal lengths of RJ45 cables which supposedly support transfer speeds of up to 100mbps, what causes the slow speeds?
100baseT does not support transfers of 100Mb/s. It supports a network connection that fast. ANY and all network connections of any type require network overhead. Network overhead typically accounts for 15-20% of your overall bandwidth.
So a more realistic transfer rate on a 100Mb/s connection would be 80Mb/s. That would be 10MB/s. If your network is not transferring files that fast, there's a problem.
