Laptop Router Booster

I have a 100 ft. network cable from my router to my laptop about 60 feet away but cannot connect to the net.?

Do I need some kind of booster, or is the cable just no good?
I can connect with a shorter cable (10 ft.) so the router is fine, and I uncoiled the 100 ft. cable but still no connection. Sounds like the longer cable is bad?
The 100 ft. cable is Cat 6, by the way.

Ethernet cable is good for 100 meters, or over 300 feet. So it's not the distance, the cable is probably defective. Can you connect with another cable?
